Steel, handles and finishing
Heat-treated blanks, matched handle scales, the pins and epoxy that finish them, and kits with all of it in one box.
The build
Steel for the bones, a matched pair of scales for the grip, and brass pins to lock it all together.
Cut to profile, heat treated and drilled for pins. The edge is left for you to grind.
Sold in pairs cut from one board, so the grain runs the same on both sides of the handle.
Brass rod, cut a little long and sanded flush once the epoxy has set.
Steel guide
Carbon steels sharpen fast and forgive a first heat treat. Stainless shrugs off a wet kitchen. Powder steels hold an edge the longest and wear out belts doing it.
New to this? Start with 1095 or 440C. Both grind easily and sharpen on an ordinary stone.
The shelves
Sorted the way a build goes: steel first, then the grip, then everything that holds it together and brings up the shine.
Profiled blanks in carbon, stainless and Damascus, plus flat bar for makers who cut their own.
Scales sold in matched pairs from one board, so both sides of a handle agree.
Pins, glue, belts and oil: the last hour of every build.
